“Welcome to my creative world of BirdHouses.
It started with an old weathered cedar fence and decking that I thought wasn’t finished with its life and used that to make a Birdhouse for my wife.
I created the whimsical shapes, roofing windows, decks and railings. But, I decided that they needed more… moss, lichen, firepits and the best addition was my handmade Mushroom Chimneys!
She loved it so much that I made her another one, the “Steeple House”. We have so many lovely varieties of birds and it was nice to see them closer up.
I had so much material left over that I was making them for my kids as gifts with the help of my grandchildren. What a wonderful way to do something you love with the ones I love!
In turn my friends loved them as well…..and so began “John’s BirdHouses”!

Handcrafted Fungi Friends
“I was inspired to make these Mushrooms from the variety of ones I was making for the BirdHouses and that came from the Mushrooms my wife and I would find foraging for wild mushrooms.
As I would take walks on trails I’d see all kinds of different lichen and moss and old stumps. I came home with a few different ideas and started to create them.
I have come up with a few different groupings, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 groupings on sliced and seasoned stumps with old pieces of thick branches and a variety of lichen.
I can create for you whatever you have in mind.
These are a great decorative piece for your own home and also a wonderful one of a kind gift.”
